Wienerbergteich

The Wienerberg recreation area with its artificial pond and the largest stock of reeds in the south of Vienna is located in Favoriten, the most populous district in Vienna. The haven of peace in the middle of the urban jungle hides many a secret.

Actually, it’s all a little unreal. A few meters away from the busy Triesterstraße, a green space opens up that you would not expect to find in such a densely populated district. Once you have discovered an entrance, you are in another world: crickets are chirping and birds are chirping. The landscape protection area is 123 hectares in size, with small enchanted paths, meadows and embankments. In the center of the area there is an artificial pond with an interesting history.
